  • Draft position statements and other responsive pleadings to actions filed with state and federal administrative agencies and court venues alleging violations of state and federal employment laws and regulations.
  • Take an active role in litigation of or response to employment actions in federal, state and administrative venues on behalf of Company including drafting and responding to discovery requests, taking depositions, defending the company at agency hearings, drafting motions and post hearing briefs.
  • Draft employment contracts, independent contractor agreements, non-compete and separation agreements.
  • Review, update and draft company employment policies, including employee handbook.
  • Represent company in mediations and negotiate and draft settlement agreements.
  • Research various issues, including but not limited to developments in labor and employment law and civil procedure.
  • Develop and administer training on topics related to developments in employment law.
  • Investigate or oversee investigations of alleged discrimination, harassment, wage and hour claims and ethics violations.
  • Counsel field operations personnel on employee coaching, corrective action and performance management.
  • Advise administrative and field personnel and leaves of absence consistent with company policy and state and federal law.
  • Advise administrative and field personnel on compliance with state and federal law including but not limited to the FMLA, FLSA and ADAAA.
  • Appear in a court of law or administrative tribunal on behalf of the company and present well-reasoned arguments to the judicial or administrative body.
  • Assist field in preparing responses to union grievances and resolving employee relations issues.
  • Represent company in arbitration proceedings and prepare post-arbitration briefs.
  • Negotiate collective bargaining agreements with unions nationwide.




  • JD - admitted to practice before courts in at least one state with the State of Illinois preferred.
  • 2+ years Labor/Employment law experience with a Company or law firm including practical experience with all of the administrative agencies and courts that regulate the employment environment.
  • Willingness and ability to travel up to 25% of the time.
