* This role requires that you are either based in Nashville or Dallas.  If based in Dallas, the role will be a remote position; but, you will be expected to periodically collaborate with our VP, Development in person.

 

Responsibilities

 

  • Install, configure and maintain Linux operating systems that are running either in the cloud or on-prem
  • Analyze and resolve problems associated with the OS, updates, hardware, applications and software
  • Set up monitoring in AWS Cloudwatch and the appropriate alarms
  • Troubleshoot system performance issues
  • Ensure compliance with company security practices. Maintain best practices on managing systems and services across all environments
  • Monitor system performance and capacity planning proactively
  • Conduct fault finding, analysis and logging information for reporting of performance exceptions
  • Manage, coordinate, and implement software upgrades, patches, hot fixes on servers, workstations, and network hardware
  • Create and modify scripts or applications to perform tasks
  • Provide input on ways to improve the stability, security, efficiency, and scalability of the environment
  • Collaborate with other teams and team members to develop automation strategies and deployment processes

 

Qualifications

 

  • 7+ years of linux administration experience - both cloud and on-prem
  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems or similar relevant degree required.
  • Proactively maintain and develop all Linux infrastructure technology to maintain a 24x7x365 uptime service
  • Prior experience with the engineering of systems administration-related solutions for various project and operational needs
  • In-depth knowledge of Linux: RedHat, CentOS, Debian, etc.
  • AWS certification is a plus
  • Hands on experience with MySQL and MongoDB, self-managed as well as a service
  • Expert in Shell, Perl, and/or Python scripting
  • Solid knowledge of protocols such as DNS, HTTP, LDAP, SMTP and SNMP
  • Additional Linux certifications (RHCT, RHCE and LPIC) will be considered an advantage
  • Strong problem solving and communication skills
  • Familiarity with docker containers, its configuration and orchestration
